Tamas Wells既是团名也是其中主唱的名字，这支来自澳洲墨尔本的indie-pop乐团最早成立于00年初，当时只有Owen Gray (bass, harmonica)及Ben Castle(violin)两名成员，发行的第一张EPquot;Hello Jealousyquot;是张带点政治意味的民谣唱片，创作灵感来自当年的“第三世界国家债务解除运动”，第二年鼓手Nathan Collins的加入带入了新的创作元素，而接下来紧密的巡回演出，也为Tamas Wells在当地乐界积累了不少人气。02年3月和8月分别发行了两张广受好评的EP（quot;Cigarettes, a Tie and a Free Magazinequot;及quot;Stitch In Timequot;），Ben中途退出接着加入了Tamas和Anthony。知名制作人Tim Whitten（曾制作过Gersey, Art of Fighting, Gaslight Radio）在听过quot;Stitch in Timequot; 之后颇为欣赏，邀请他们来悉尼的Megaphon studios共同录制新唱片，04年第一张专辑quot;A Mark On The Panequot;曾被评为当年最美的唱片之一。

Since emerging 3 years ago in a vibrant Melbourne music scene, Tamas Wells has become well known to discerning music listeners around Australia and overseas. The bands debut three track single Cigarettes, a Tie and a Free Magazine from 2002 and the subsequent home recorded ep Stitch in Time were praised by critics for their charming aquatic melodies and for having some of the sharpest songwriting around (Single of the Week) Rip It Up Mag.

In 2003, renowned Sydney producer Tim Whitten (a la Gersey, Art of Fighting, Bluebottle Kiss) heard a copy of the Stitch in Time ep and invited the band to Megaphon studios in Sydney to record some of their new material.

The debut album A Mark on the Pane is considered by many Australian critics to be one of 2004's most beautiful records (Inpress). It has received universal praise for its beautiful melodies, dreamy arrangements and vocals that are virtually out of this world (Baby Sue US 5+/5 stars) and for the sublime sensibilities of Sydney producer Tim Whitten. Brisbanes Time Off magazine recently described A Mark on the Pane as absolutely marvellous 4.5/5 stars.

While A Mark on the Pane has received critical acclaim in Australia, extensive independent airplay (including recent feature album on Perths RTR FM and Adelaide's Three D) and debuted in the AIR charts, it has also garnered much interest internationally. Glowing reviews from the US and Europe have sparked significant interest from the industry and airplay in Europe (on college radio in France and Portugal) and Japan (where it has been named feature album on Shonan Beach FM).


The beauty of 'When We Do Fail Abigail' is difficult to pigeon hole but if anything in tone reflects classic White Album songs like John Lennon's 'Julia' or McCartney's 'Blackbird'(Undercover zine Australia)
